Summer Glaze is a premium Lightroom preset that gives your vacation photos a tropical orange and teal treatment. It also glazes your images with sweet warm tones and a matte motif. This effect helps add the charm of sunset to any photograph.
This preset looks best on images of beaches, as it can fully accentuate orange and teal hues. These will mostly be noticeable on the water, sand, and horizon. It looks amazing as a travel Instagram filter, too! Not only does it draw out a relaxed tropical vibe, but also gives your feed a stylishly cohesive aesthetic.
Creates a Summer Vibe
Hot Summer. Summer Glaze preset sets the atmosphere of your summer scenes by infusing them with a warm color temperature and a subtle magenta tint. Then, to bring out as much of the tones as possible, it also slightly increases exposure. This fills the image with more light which the preset enhances to make it look like sunshine.
You can instantly notice the effect in the After photo above. The entire image now has a matte orange glow, and the tinge of magenta makes it look complex. This will later blend with Summer Glaze’s moderated tones.
You can examine how it processes the skin tones of the subjects as well. The preset more finely adjusts color by tweaking Lightroom’s HSL panel. More about this in the example below.
Compresses Tones for a Matte Look
Soft Matte. What sets this preset apart is how it combines soft tones and its own warm orange and teal effect. To achieve this style, Summer Glaze compresses tones; this means that it softens highlights and lightens shadows. It shrinks the tonal range to create an airy summer look.
The preset applies heavy adjustments for this. It nearly fully mutes whites and highlights, and completely lightens shadows. It only tempers blacks to retain depth. Then, to refine these, Summer Glaze sets a custom tone curve as well.
As you can see in the photo above, the tones, although significantly less intense, still look well-defined. Let us take a closer look: the woman in the photo still has enough light and shadow on her body, and the waves still look crisp.
Now notice how these enhancements also affect the mood. They create a gentle warm retro film look. It is charming and cinematic. As you can see from this example, Summer Glaze premium preset does have both a stylish and classic appeal.
Draws out Orange Hues
Deep Orange Hues. The motif of this preset is anchored in deep orange hues. Summer Glaze does a great job of extracting them from existing colors, even if they are only remotely orange. It does so by applying fine adjustments in the HSL panel.
To solidify its sweltering summer feel, it first improves its warm colors. It makes red and yellow shades look more orange, but only moderately. The preset then converts green hues to light yellow. It makes it blend more seamlessly with the overall aesthetic. Then, finally, it converts blue hues to aqua or teal.
This preset’s matte look is not complete without adjustments in saturation. Just by looking at the examples above, you can tell that Summer Glaze undersaturates all colors. It even completely grays out any remaining green hues.
These colors still look lovely enough thanks to the adjustments luminance. The preset applies specific brightening to some greens, aqua, purple, and magenta. You can, therefore, notice some brilliance in bodies of water, flora, and skin tones.
