Reverie is a premium Lightroom preset that creates a stylish look with unsaturated hues. It coats images with a soft layer of warm color temperature. Its light tones also create a matte look that gives photos an understated elegance.
This professional preset is ideal for social media use. Its artistic style is great for fashion photography and blogging. You can also use the preset's unique aesthetic as a cohesive filter for your Instagram feed. Although this preset works well on any image with diffused lighting, it is better to apply it to those with intricate details in the background. These are often shot outdoors. Why not try Reverie on your travel photos? You can check the examples below for ideas.
Creates an Elegant Aesthetic
Stylish Tones. Reverie premium preset begins by creating the base of its distinct look. It initially applies fundamental adjustments that affect the entire photograph. In the above After photo, examine how it warms the color temperature and adds green tint.
After these, the preset applies further enhancements to color. To create the soft and subdued look, Reverie lowers contrast, saturation, and vibrance. The intensity of these three is set at varied levels and are optimized to create its signature look. Note how the preset softens colors without making them look washed out.
Mutes and Lightens Tones
Light Matte. Along with the mentioned color adjustments above, Reverie's style also depends on its tonal adjustments. These give images the charming and sought-after matte texture. Here we see how this premium preset processes lighting.
To have more light to work with, Reverie slightly increases exposure. This, too, also helps compensate for all the softening. After all, the preset does significantly lighten dark regions and subdue highlights. It, however, only moderately adjusts whites and blacks to preserve their natural depth and intensity. Reverie then refines all these tonal settings in the tone curve.
Reconfigures Hues for a Cohesive Look
Color Motif. Because it is a preset specifically designed for fashion and blogging, Reverie's colors are made to look cohesive and compact. Nothing sticks out; it applies a solid motif that exudes a feel of sophisticated style and elegance.
The preset does this by bringing colors closer together in the spectrum. It draws all warm hues towards red, and cool colors towards dark blue and purple. Reverie, of course, does this in differing degrees. As you can see in the After photo above, it does a great job at blending colors. The bluish-gray of the rocks no longer pop too much; it now, instead, looks one with the entire image.
Refines Color Saturation of Luminance
Refined Hues. You can clearly see how the preset undersaturates all the colors of the photo. What makes its hues look so refined are the underlying complex enhancements in Lightroom's HSL panel. The preset tweaks its broader adjustments here: it desaturates shades of yellow, for example, to moderate the added layer of warmth. It also lowers the intensity of purple and magenta to produce lighter and smoother skin tones.
Finally, Reverie adjusts the brilliance of each color. It slightly brightens red and blue hues while it darkens and deepens yellow, aqua, and purple. To regulate the intensity of warm hues, the preset significantly alters the luminance of only the color orange. All in all, these brightening adjustments come together to complement Reverie's soft matte aesthetic.
In the After photo above, examine how the preset transforms the woman's skin tones, the trees in the background, and the asphalt road. You can also compare the Before and After colors of her hair and outfit. Notice how all these hues look cohesive thanks to Reverie's intricately designed tones.
