A winter landscape with aqua tint

White Snow

White Snow free Lightroom preset adds a serene layer of aqua onto winter photos. It also heightens the cold look and feel with its softened tones. All its refined effects give images a dramatic and ethereal atmosphere.

Collection: Winter Presets
Best for: Winter Landscapes, Outdoor, Travel
Style: Soft Aqua Hues, Muted Tones

This preset is ideal for winter landscapes that show a lot of sky and snow. Such an outdoor scene will make the most of White Snow’s intricate colors and tones.

This is also perfect to use as an Instagram filter; it will make a set of snowy images, or even an entire feed, look professionally cohesive.

Tints the Image with a Layer of Aqua Hues

Frigid Hues. The most defining look of this preset is the shades of aqua that coat the images. They are subtle, somewhat like pastel hues. They create a magical effect especially over the whiteness of snow.

Examine the After photo above. As a result, the entire scene looks colder, making the freezing temperatures more palpable. Notice, too, how the effect does not look flat — the preset retains much depth and detail. This is because it isn’t a simple layer of color: White Snow, instead, adds the blue tones to highlights and shadows. These are then balanced out by a slight increase in color temperature and contrast.

Lightens Dark Areas for Softer Tones

Lightens. To go with its soft and cool aesthetic, the preset further lightens blacks and shadows. With these adjustments, you do not get any harsh tones. Dark areas stylistically appear muted and blend well with the predominant whiteness of wintertime.

White Snow preset refines this effect further by applying the same to the tone curve. You can easily notice the result in the example above. The dog’s black fur in the After photo now looks lighter and with a tinge of blue like the rest of the scene.

We also have a winter preset that has richer tones that nicely pop against a white winter scene. The photos would just look more illuminated. Lowers Saturation for a Cold Winter Feel

A mountain with snowy peaks

Winter Hues. Like the tones mentioned previously, the preset softens the intensity of colors as well. This is exactly the unique character of this preset. The lightness of the resulting image makes it even more charming. This visual style easily stands out among our collection of winter presets for Lightroom.

You can examine this in the above image. The mountain’s colors look muted yet add to the overall cold feel. Even with the soft and somewhat hazy motif, see how the preset retains detail. The mountain still looks crisp and clear.

Sharpens Details and Adds Vignetting

Refined Textures. Given the importance of showing textures in landscapes, the preset sharpens images further. It does so moderately, not to the extent of looking artificial. You can observe the result of this improvement in the above photo.

Then, as a finishing touch, White Snow adds vignetting. Not only does it draw attention to the subject, but it also aesthetically serves as an accent against the monotonous whiteness of snow.
