You can bring the cozy feel of autumn indoors with this Indoor Fall premium preset. It is easily one of our favorites because of its delicate browns. Its style is a lot like quiet mornings in bed while sipping a warm cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa. Its beautiful earthy pastels, combined with an overall delicate motif, just give photos a charming and homey atmosphere.

Indoor Fall works best on photos with high-key or white backgrounds, illuminated by diffused light. It especially looks amazing on white interiors. You can easily see why in our examples below. These make the most of the preset’s soft aesthetic and help accentuate its fall hues indoors.
Softens Tones for Light and Airy Feel
Cozy Fall. To visually create the homey feel of fall, we lighten the tones throughout. This means that there shouldn’t be harsh highlights or shadows. We are, after all, going for that soft and welcoming look.
As you can see in the After photo, we only moderately reinforce whites for brighter interiors, but also give them a charming matte or airy effect. This preset, after all, looks best on high-key images. Go on and try to also compare the intensity of light and shadow.
And did you notice? This Indoor Fall preset looks amazing on children and newborn photos!
Sets an Indoor Autumn Motif
Autumn Indoors. In this example, we finally demonstrate how we design the indoor autumn look. We desaturate colors among others — many more granular settings that go with it.
We do most of the tweaking in the HSL panel. To produce rich browns and earthy accents, we pull lighter warm hues towards orange and brown tones and balance them with cooler blue and green hues.
This is exactly what we love the most about Indoor Fall! It easily helps us set a cohesive look across multiple photos, especially on an Instagram feed. It simply is great on a lot of indoor shots, including portraits, flat lays or product photography, and fashion photography. So if you are trying to set a signature look, you should definitely consider Indoor Fall.
Undersaturates Fall Colors
Autumn Pastels. The midtones are crucial when setting depth and definition. We try to create a nice balance, retaining the tender look without making the photo look flat and dull. To make this happen, we moderately increase clarity levels and then decrease vibrance. The resulting aesthetic leans towards the pale side, in favor of pastel hues.
We also refine the lightness or brightness of some colors. By lowering the luminance of warm tones, we make them look rich and deep. We do the opposite for greens: we want plant life to look slightly more brilliant than other elements. You can examine the result above by comparing the leaves on the Before and After photos.
Refines Earthy Autumn Tones
Autumn Details. If you already have a motif going for your fall shoot, you can use this preset for Lightroom to define it further. Indoor Fall can help you refine the colors and reinforce the fall or earthy look. In this example, we show you how the preset subdues some harsh tones and yellows. The resulting image now looks elegant in rustic tones. We highly recommend this look to professional photographers who want a specific classic aesthetic.
