Extracts the Colors of Fall
Orange and Brown. The preset draws out a complex blend of autumn colors. It specializes in deep orange hues and warm browns. As you can examine in the After photo above, Autumnal Shroud darkens some yellows; pay attention to the leaves that cover the forest floor.
It begins its processing with a bump in color temperature. It then mixes the result seamlessly with its narrowed warm tones — more on this in the later examples.
Autumnal Shroud reinforces its motif further with a moderate increase in contrast and sharpening levels. Even with a classic matte look, the added tonal intensity and crisp textures keep elements well-defined.
Lightens Tones for a Matte Look
Dramatic Fall. What makes the fall season so enchanting are its distinct colors and dramatic atmosphere. It evokes a nostalgic and cinematic feel, making its aesthetic timeless and evergreen.
Autumnal Shroud makes the most of these visual elements. To underscore the autumn’s understated yet captivating look, the preset calibrates tones to produce a stylish matte effect. It mutes light regions just as it softens shadows and blacks. Then, to add a little accent, the preset tints highlights with warm gray tones.
The result is as you see in the example above. The added tint acts as the “shroud” this preset casts over the scene. Notice how this effect transforms the mood of the photograph above: from a snapshot of an urban street café to what looks like a movie still.
Softens Colors and Skin Tones
Light Expressions. This photo shows how Autumnal Shroud processes colors and tones, specifically on portraits. Because of its increase in clarity, the subject’s features remain vividly defined; this balances out the effect of the previously subdued tones. Its refined color processing also makes sure that skin tones would look radiant despite a decrease in intensity.
Compare the background of the Before and After photos above. Notice the softening and the shift in hue. As you can see, what also defines this premium preset’s look are its lightened colors. To create them, Autumnal Shroud significantly lowers saturation and vibrance levels. This is even more refined in Lightroom’s HSL panel, where intensity is set per color — all are desaturated except for the orange hues that set the preset’s motif.
Recalibrates Colors for a Cohesive Aesthetic
Redefined Hues. The preset sets a solid and professional look by complexly defining its color range. It primarily pushes warm tones to orange shades, which keeps them within the season’s scheme. Try to look closely at the trees and grass in the After photo. The bright yellow regions are now in deep oranges and browns, almost in bronze.
The preset then bases other hues from this adjustment, mostly warming and lightening them. It narrows cool tones to aqua shades, hence the light autumn sky and river above.
Dims the Scene for Added Fall Drama
Dimmed Tones. The preset refines its dramatic style by dimming colors at varying levels. It particularly darkens yellows, making them look more like coffee browns. You can examine this effect by observing the café’s tables above. It retains just enough of the color to keep some golden sunlight hues.
