A vibrant and cinematic photo of a bridge to a beach

Ektar 100

Ektar 100 simulates the colors of the Kodak Ektar 100. This another free film preset by Forrest Lane that produces punchy vivid colors, moderate highlights, and detailed shadows. You can now bring that crisp and silky Ektar film look to your digital photos with this preset.

Collection: Film Presets
Best for: Outdoors and Travel Photos
Style: Vibrant, Matte

You will notice that it retains the image’s original tones and details. Ektar 100 only enhances, not modifies, them. Even with its conservative improvements, the resulting photos will still have that noticeable retro style and airy feel.

Recreates Ektar’s Vivid Tones

Rich and Vivid. The preset’s deepening of highlights and shadows contribute to the After photo’s sharp and textured look. To complement this effect and reveal more subtle hues and details, whites are lowered while blacks are softened.

You can notice the difference on the man’s white shirt, the shadows cast by the creases of his shorts, and in the entire terrain.

Moderates Hues for a Classic Film Look

A vibrant urbanscape with rich warm tones

Silky Hues. Many analog photographers would describe Ektar 100 colors as crisp, vibrant, and silky. These effects are largely recreated by this preset by making adjustments to the HSL panel. It tweaks hue, saturation, and luminance per color.

To achieve the warm retro look seen in the above urban photo, it decreases the saturation of reds, cool colors, and mid-temp hues. On the other hand, it amplifies the luminance of yellow, aqua, purple, and magenta — these give that classic charm.

You can examine the difference by comparing the roof of the building on the right. It looks yellow-orange in the After photo, only with soft layer of red.

Applies Custom Camera Calibration Settings

Digitized Film. The preset comes with custom camera calibration settings to accurately replicate the signature look of Ektar 100. These micro-adjustments determine how the colors would be interpreted, and they complement those color tweaks mentioned previously. You can further observe this color profile in this photo of a boy riding a bicycle.

If you want to go for an authentic look, use Ektar 100 preset on photos with sufficient lighting — the actual film was, after all, available for ISO 100 only. But go ahead and use this preset under any lighting conditions, and maybe brighten from there. After all, the beauty of having a preset instead of a film roll is that you can easily experiment on various photos.

Reproduces Ektar’s Iconic Colors — Great for Portraits!

Warm Portraits. Although this film is popular and even designed for outdoor, fashion, and product photography, this preset is versatile enough to be applied in various scenarios. You can take advantage of its hues and apply them on portraits. The result will just not be as soft as Kodak Portra‘s.

Ektar 100 preset or filter will especially look great on outdoor portraits. Like the After photo above, it will reveal more tones and details that will make your photos compelling. You can even use this style as a signature motif to an Instagram feed or an event coverage.
