Creates a Classic Summer Look
Warm Blues. The preset creates its signature look by blending its warm color temperature and light magenta tint. It then accentuates these, and make the photo look cohesive, by adding blue tones in highlights and shadows.
Moderate Intensity. The preset has a moderate level of contrast and clarity, enough to make colors pop without making them look artificial. These are balanced by a lower setting on vibrance and saturation.
You can examine the results in the above After photo. The blue tint is the most noticeable, made more complex by the coat of warm magenta. Try to compare the sky, the subdued colors, and the more relaxed vacation vibe.
Moderately Dims Tones for a Matte Look
Film Matte. Summer HiLights moderately dims the white and light areas of the image. It only slightly increases the highlights to accentuate some aspects of the photo’s lighting. On the other hand, it dims blacks and shadows further; against the light motif, these adjustments help add depth to the image.
The preset refines these settings in the tone curve to produce its charming matte polish. Notice how it transforms the photo above and how it subsequently enhances the mood of the image. It can make any summer photo look timeless and even cinematic.
Summer HiLights finally emphasizes and completes its film look by improving textures. It finely sharpens details. You can examine how much difference it makes in the above After photo. Notice how you can clearly see the weaving pattern of the woman’s hat despite the subdued tones.
Underscores the Colors of Summer
Beach Hues. The preset amplifies the usual beach colors which are orange, aqua, and blue. For contrast, it also subdues the saturation of red, green, purple, and magenta.
To go with its soft matte aesthetic, Summer HiLights increases the luminance of only the color orange. This tweak adds some light onto skin tones and sandy beaches. On the other hand, the preset darkens aqua and blue hues to produce the rich and deep blue hues of sea and sky.
