Soft Radiance is a premium Lightroom preset that produces tender tones and adds some sunlit radiance to photos. Its colors look elegant with their light and airy feel. This preset is, after all, designed for high-key scenes, white interiors, flatlay setups, product shoots, and newborn photography.
This is an ideal preset to use if you want a soft and stylish look. To make the most of its gentle tones, try using it on bright indoor images with diffused lighting. Note that natural lighting works best with its light and neutral aesthetic. The more white the image has, too, the better.
Be sure to try Soft Radiance for your blog or Instagram feed. This preset will give you a professional, classy, and cohesive motif. Try it if you want such a stylish and unsaturated look. It is one of the most compelling presets you can find that gives off such understated and refined elegance.
Softly Brightens Scenes
Sunlit Radiance. In the newborn photo above, it is easy to see how Soft Radiance warms and softens an image. Examine the bright areas on the baby's legs and toes. The photo is more illuminated and slightly warm, as though shot early in the morning. Notice, too, how the preset enhances skin tones; they now look soft, smooth, and more complex.
To create these tender hues, the preset first slightly warms and lessens the magenta tint. These blend and serve as a base for further adjustments in color. It is then in Lightroom's HSL panel that Soft Radiance refines these: it illuminates and moderates warm tones, while it lowers the saturation of cool colors. You can expect to see enhanced pastels whenever you use this preset.
Mutes Highlights & Lightens Shadows
Light Elegance. Soft Radiance complements the previous color adjustments by tempering tones as well. This includes lowering the contrast, muting whites and highlights, and lightening shadows. As a result, the tonal range is compressed — there are no harsh shadows or overblown highlights. Both light and dark tones look delicate, refined, and detailed.
Then, to further soften yet retain depth, the preset also adds some light gray to highlights and shadows. This subtle tinting helps tie everything up and reinforce the overall motif.
You can examine this effect in the above flatlay example. It may seem that there isn't a drastic difference at first glance, but pay close attention to the shadows cast by the folds of the fabric. Also, notice how Soft Radiance processes whites by blending the grays with its distinct brilliant warmth.
Improves Skin Tones with Clarity and Vibrance
Enhanced Skin Tones. The preset applies a series of adjustments specifically for skin tones. These include its settings for clarity and vibrance. The purpose of these tweaks is twofold: to optimize skin tones for the preset's motif, and to make them appear naturally radiant.
To create this effect, Soft Radiance amplifies clarity and decreases vibrance. The first one reinforces midtones to add definition, while the second makes skin look soft and smooth. You can compare the Before and After photos above to see the difference. See how the baby's face is now more illuminated, and how tones appear subdued. Like the previous example, you can notice the effect most on the fabric folds and the scene's high-key background.
