Creates a Warm Brown Motif
Delicate Warmth. The preset’s complex brown aesthetic comprises layers of color adjustments. Russet Hue begins with overarching settings like color temperature and tint. It tweaks both to create a diffused sunny look. Then, as an accent, it adds a warm gray tone to the shadows.
These improvements go hand in hand with the preset’s optimized color settings. It reinforces the brown motif by lowering the vibrance and saturation of most hues. As a result, no opposing cool color would stick out. These subdued colors help keep a cohesive and elegant look.
The photo above of the croissant demonstrates this effect well. The image looks illuminated yet the tones are soft. Throughout the image, too, colors appear light; notice how these give way to Russet Hue’s autumn vintage brown tones.
Dims Tones for a Matte Look
Brown Matte. As you can see in the example above, Russet Hue preset creates a chocolate matte look; the brown hues look warm and delicate. Its lighting adjustments do the trick here: the preset darkens light and dark regions, then softens both highlights and shadows. It is this narrowed tonal range that creates a distinct matte effect.
The preset further amplifies clarity to add depth and intensify midtones. The tweak is moderate, just enough to crisply define the elements in any image.
Examine the After photo above. There are no blinding highlights nor harsh shadows. Tones stylistically look flat in matte. Despite these softening, you can still see a lot of detail because of the reinforced depth; this is apparent in the field and the woman’s clothing. See how the preset smoothens skin tones as well.
Applies Complex Adjustments in Saturation and Luminance
Pastel Hues. The beauty of this preset is in its understated pastel hues. After all, what defines Russet Hue’s motif lies its unique color blending. In addition to the fundamental tweaks in temperature and tint, the preset continues to finely adjust each color’s hue, saturation, and luminance. It does so, of course, in varying degrees; it favors warm hues and mutes the others.
Try to examine how it processes colors in the example above. In the After photo, the sunlight looks dimmer, and the green leaves of the trees appear desaturated — even close to gray.
Notice how Russet Hue’s neutral white brightness, too. It makes the entire aesthetic more pleasing to the eyes. Pay attention to the sunlight cast on the white wall, on the left side of the image.
If your image has harsh yellows, for example, this premium preset would definitely fix it. It is good to note that the preset also boosts the brilliance of colors found in nature, which are aqua, blue, and green.
