Retro Wedding free Lightroom preset gives wedding photos a classic sepia look. This vintage monochrome style looks rich because of its warm brown accent tones. These make the shots expressive and memorable. The old film look also gives images a timeless and nostalgic charm.
This retro preset is versatile for all types of photography, but it is specially designed for outdoor wedding images that are filled with natural light. You can apply it to photos that you intend to print, or even those you want to post on social media like Instagram. After all, this elegant wedding filter consistently adds a stylish and professional look.
Converts Colored Images to Rich Sepia
Classic Brown. The preset begins by converting the photo to black and white. This allows Retro Wedding to process the image in monochrome. It then creates its sepia look by adding warm brown tones in both highlights and shadows.
This method retains depth so well, as you can observe in the above wedding photo. You may compare the details between the before and after images, especially paying close attention to the groom’s suit and the bride’s wedding dress.
Accentuates Tones with a Warm Tint
Warm Accents. To make the browns look more complex, the preset further coats images with warm a warm magenta tint. This accent helps bring out the complex tones of this monochrome style. It goes hand in hand with the previous tweak above.
The After portrait above shows how this Retro Wedding preset enhances skin tones. This matters even in monochrome. The added warm tint makes the bride’s skin tone look more natural and set apart from the rest of the image.
Recreates the Soft Vintage Look
Soft and Light Vintage. Retro Wedding stays true to its motif by recreating that unmistakable soft look of old photos. Back then, after all, analog films could not process wide-ranges of tone, detail, and color.
The preset recreates this look by narrowing tones. It subdues highlights and lightens blacks and shadows. It only heightens some whites a bit to add some brightness to the image. Retro Wedding then refines the overall effect in the tone curve.
It is striking how a simple brightening can reveal details. Look at the groom’s suit in the After photo. You can now see the patterns more easily. The softening settings, too, make shadows less harsh. Most importantly, notice how the preset also transforms mood. There is somehow a dreamy or ethereal feel.
Refines Luminance in the Mix Channel
Refined Brilliance. As mentioned earlier, this preset is optimized for outdoor wedding photos. Retro Wedding specifically sets the luminance of each tone based on their corresponding original color. All of this happens in the black and white mix channel.
To enhance the sky, skin tones, and bodies of water, the preset increases the luminance levels of blue, purple, and magenta. You will notice a distinct brilliance in them. Then, for contrast, it lowers those of red, orange, yellow, green, and aqua. As you can observe in the example above, Retro Wedding’s resulting blend produces nuanced and well-balanced tones.
Completes the Old Film Look
Old Film. The preset completes the old film look by moderating tonal intensity and tweaking the textures. It lowers the clarity and contrast to produce lighter midtones. As a result, you get that almost-flat look. To compensate for all the softening adjustments, Retro Wedding also amplifies sharpening. See how it draws out just the right amount of detail.
