Creates Clean Black and White Tones
Strike a Pose. The Neopan 400 preset switches its treatment to black and white mode before applying its custom adjustments. One of the fine adjustments the preset applied is increasing exposure and coupling it by increasing shadows and contrast. These settings help create a brighter image but keep a balance of dark elements through heightened shadows and contrasts. The result is a well-balanced mixture of black and white tones.
The example above shows how the monochrome tones perform well once applied. The lighting adjustments create the right amount of brightness and darkness, emphasizing the important elements in the photo.
The woman looks very radiant and polished throughout, but keeping her curly hair rich and defined bringing out texture and contrast in the overall image.
Black and White. With balanced lighting settings, the preset is able to bring out fine lines and tones. As seen above, notice how the overall image is very polished and soft. The white top of the woman does not come off as a harsh block of white, but rather softens the whole image. The dark elements in the photo such as the woman’s hair and jeans appear rather faded than pigmented, which complements the overall soft black and white film look.
Creates Balanced Contrasts
Record Store. The Fuji Neopan 400 film is best known to work well in a variety of lighting conditions. The Neopan 400 preset does not disappoint, as it widely adapts to the colored image’s given lighting and illuminates different tone colors to appear brighter or darker in the monochrome setting.
The example above shows how blue tones are illuminated as grays, once the preset is applied. It appears brighter and exposed building light and dark contrast from top to bottom, making the upper part of the photo brighter than the lower half. This creates a balanced contrast on black and white adding a unique character to the overall image.
Emphasizes Texture
Textured Monochrome. Just like in any black and white image, The Neopan 400 preset takes importance to the emphasis of texture. The preset adds grain to the overall image which heightens different textures.
The image above shows how the dark elements in the photo such as the man’s hair, shirt, and jeans suddenly reveal texture. This is also because of the preset’s custom tone curve, decreasing lights, and heightening shadows.
