A man facing a vast mountain landscape

FujiColor 400 W

You get a unique color temperature with this film preset. As the “W” in its name suggests, Fujicolor 400 W coats photos with warm hues, but not in the usual yellow. It instead uses magenta tones that beautifully blend with light and dark regions. On top of it all, Forrest Lane even adds an elegant matte texture.

Collection: Film Presets
Best for: Versatile, Indoor and Outdoor

This preset works best on scenes with sufficient lighting. As a film simulation, this preset can be suitable for any type of photography, from portraits to landscapes. You can, therefore, use it on both indoor and outdoor photos.

Adds a Layer of Film Magenta

Rich Retro. To set the aesthetic that this film is known for, Fujicolor 400 W preset cools the color temperature and boosts the magenta tint. It carefully blends the two to produce that unmistakable bluish-magenta motif.

You can easily see the result of these adjustments in the After photo above. Note how the preset not only changed the color of tones in the portrait but also dramatically transformed the mood of the photograph. The resulting image is more charming and dramatic. The mood now matches the woman’s expression even more.

Tints Highlights and Shadows for a Vintage Look

Light Accents. Fujicolor 400 W further enhances the preset’s film style by tinting highlights and shadows as well. This allows it to add depth without going against the retro look. The preset adds a light mint tone in the highlights and cream in the shadows.

You can examine these accents in the above image. Look at how the light areas have a tinge of mint, while the shadows have a cream tone that blends with the magenta tint. See how these hues artistically affect the look of water and skin tones.

Darkens Tones for Better Definition

Defined Tones. The preset lowers the brilliance of whites and moderates the intensity of blacks. As a result, photos get beautifull defined elements, not looking flat or washed out. This also means that your photos won’t have overblown highlights that may otherwise ruin the vintage and analog aesthetic.

Look at the cinematic and soft hues After photo above. Even with the lighter look, you can still recognize much detail. All in all, Fujicolor 400 W’s unique look coats the landscape with its timeless atmosphere.

Amplifies Color to Produce Analog Film Hues

Vivid Colors. Lastly, the preset boosts the colors of the image. So, even with the layered colors and tints, you can still have vivid hues. To do this, it increases contrast, clarity, and vibrance. Then, for good measure, it adds a bit more saturation throughout the image.

You can take a look at its result in the image above; particularly focus on the man’s bike in the After photo. Pay attention to the changes in color and tone, and the overall effect in mood.
