Snow Season

Snow Season preset helps your photos reveal the cold but magical feel of winter. Its gentle cool tints emphasize frigid temperatures, while its fine adjustments in tone infuse photos with a festive atmosphere. It makes snow appear bright and even inviting.

Tints Photos for a Cool Look and Feel

Winter. Snow Season cools the color temperature of the image and adds a soft green tint. These two tweaks blend to create the preset’s distinct cold look and feel.

Try to examine the background of the After photo above. You can notice the resulting deep green hues on the trees.

Brightens Images for a Festive Atmosphere

Festive Holidays. The preset further makes your photos lively by amplifying its brightness. It increases the exposure for more light. Then, it fully decreases highlights to compensate for the boost in exposure; this adjustment helps preserve the details in the light areas of the image.

Notice how brighter the After photo is above. It is more festive and appealing. The snow is much whiter, even brilliant. Despite its significant boost in light, notice how you can still see some shadows in those white areas.

One of the common shots people take during winter, alongside winter landscapes, would be of winter activities. You can get our winter sports preset for Lightroom. It also has a bright style but with more vivid cool tones.

Enhances Midtones and Textures

Crisp Tones and Details. Given all the whiteness of winter, it is important to draw out some hues as accents. For this, Snow Season amplifies clarity. This, as a result, makes midtones crisp. Take note of the difference in the red cottage facade above.

It is, of course, equally important to make sure that the accents are not overdone. After all, too-vivid colors would interrupt the smooth and clean motif of this preset. Snow Season, therefore, decreases saturation. This makes colors look more suitable against the white snow.

Also, examine the preset’s enhancements in texture. Textures are sharper now, and there is stylish vignetting at the edges. It effectively frames the scene, most especially given the high-key image.

Lightens Tones For a Colder Winter Feel

White and Bright. The preset brightens the photo even more by lightening shadows and boosting whites. This way, you get more complex white tones and softer shadows on them. These improvements are also more finely applied in the tone curve. Among our winter presets for Lightroom, this preset’s tone curve stands about for its granular tweaks.

Applies a Balanced Mix of Saturation and Luminance

Undersaturated Matte. Snow Season also creates a medium matte effect by lowering the saturation of all colors except blue. You will, therefore, notice this the most on most elements in the image, except for the snow and sky. They will remain vivid against the season’s whites.

Vibrant Nature. Snow Season increases the luminance of green, aqua, purple, and magenta. These colors are mostly found in nature. You can examine the result above: the trees and water look more illuminated, so do some patches of land.

It also, on the other hand, lowers the luminance of orange and blue hues. This will help add to the depth and definition of the image.
