Picknick

Picknick is a free versatile lightroom preset that plays on blue, violet, and cool color tones. It creates a soft blue film that also resembles an instant film look when applied to brighter and exposed images. Likewise, the preset’s custom settings enhance textures, tones, and effects to curate a soft, cool, and balanced presence and feel on your overall image.

Try this preset out if you have a lot of outdoor or travel photos, whether landscape or portrait. It works well on images taken under natural light. It will also surely add that unique style on your Instagram or social media feeds!

Adds a Cool Filter On Your Images

Analog Effect. The example above immediately shows how the After photo’s colors adjust to desaturated tones. Some hues have also shifted into the blue and purple color spectrum because the Picknick preset incorporates blue and violet tones into its highlights and shadows. Through this, the preset creates a polaroid film effect on the overall photo.

You can see these changes in the after photo through some elements such as the bluer sky, the mountains, and the woman’s blanket. Looking back at the sky’s color change, you can see how the blue tint creates a mood on the scenery creating a calm cold feel. The switch of color on the woman’s blanket compliments the whole cool look.

Blue Fade. Looking at the example above, it is quite clear how the After photo transforms with a cool tone effect. The blue filter mantles all over the image and creates an instant film look. It is complemented with the added vignette to frame and complete the overall look of the image. The preset’s hazy and foggy effect also helps create a focus on the woman, creating a soft blur in the background for the overall look.

Brings Out Texture in Photos

Enhanced Textures. The Picknick preset adds clarity in presence along with increasing sharpening to bring out texture in its mid-tones and enhance the minute details of your images. You can see this setting applied in the example above. Looking at the photo on the right, the walls reveal more sharp edges and surface that adds more depth and detail to the photo.

The color of the image changes into a saturated blue tone that uplifts the image. This is done through the preset’s increasing blue color luminance for more highlighted details on blue tones. Darker tones on the shadows are also lightened creating a slightly faded effect. This also adds to the overall look of the processed image.

Balances Cool and Warm Tones

Browns and Blues. The Picknick preset decreases orange color saturation and increases blue color luminance. This means the pigments in the orange color spectrum are less vibrant and can appear faded and slightly ashen. However, blue pigments will appear deeper and brighter.

These adjustments are evident in the After photo above, especially seen on the bricks and the wooden doors together with the blue elements of the image. You can see how the colors create a balance of both cool and warm tones and compliments the lightened shadows and textures of the image.
