Darkens Red Tones
Dim All Over. The Legacy Pro 800 increases clarity levels which heightens contrast in its mid-tones. The photo above shows how this creates dark but faded gray tones that create a dimmed look. The preset also reduces the luminance of red tones in its black and white mix channel which is why the red background wall from the Before photo looks heavily dimmed in the After image. The dark tones mesh together producing clean, soft lines looking like it was taken using a professional black and white film.
Deep Grays. The preset reduces the luminance of red tones, making it appear darker in the preset. The images above are the perfect example of this, as the temple is painted red all over. Once the preset is applied, you can see how the red tones suddenly transform into darker gray, building contrast and with the rest of the elements for a classic monochrome film look.
Adds A Dramatic Flair
Dark and Light Contrast. The Legacy pro 800 preset increases exposure and clarity in its custom settings. This helps brighten the image all throughout but at the same time increases dark pigments in its mid-tones producing a dynamic gray tonal range. The example above is perfect, as you can see, the gray tones are darker on the part of the chair and gradually lighten by the notebook, creating an overall dramatic monochrome film effect.
Frames Your Images
Gradient Look. Just like the Legacy Pro Black and White film itself, the preset adds a tight grain in its effects to recreate that authentic grainy film look. The preset also adds a light vignette to frame the whole image. The vignette appears as a slight gradient border that also aids the illusion that your image was taken using an analog camera.
Creates Evident Textures
Tight Grain. The preset adds sharpening and grain to enhance the grainy film character of the monochrome filter. It also increases clarity which slightly heightens contrast and adds texture. These adjustments are evident in the photos above. In the rendered image, the darker shades of gray reveal more textures as well. If you look closely at the arm, the tiny hair strands are more visible. Ample amount of grain is also apparent on the other elements of the overall photo.
