Recreates the Analog Film Look

Optimized. The preset sets its fundamental adjustments here. It begins by increasing the exposure a bit so that it can have more light to work with. It then complements it with a moderate boost in contrast and clarity.

These adjustments help emphasize depth in the image. Try to examine the differences between the Before and After photos above. Pay attention to the mode’s skin tones, especially on her face and arms. You can see more nuanced shades and richer midtones now, even against the bright white background. Notice how these are not harsh; they only add a layer of complexity.

Fujicolor 400 N then lowers the saturation of colors under Lightroom’s Presence panel to add some softness to the image. This goes hand in hand with the succeeding improvements in tone.

Darkens Tones for a Classic Matte Look

Vivid Matte. Fujicolor 400 N creates most of the matte effect by adjusting its tones: it softens whites and deepens blacks. To make sure that their contrast is not too stark, it further refines dark regions in the tone curve.

You can examine the results in the outdoor portrait above. In the After photo, see how the man’s skin tone now looks more defined and slightly darker. This simple effect helps draw out more details and facial features. Also, notice how the softening of whites affects his arms and clothing. As you can see, the preset prioritizes details over a brightened look.

Finely Adjusts Color Saturation

Refined Color Intensity. All the preset’s effects are meant to add a professional polish. You can notice this all the more if you apply Fujicolor 400 N on an image with a lot of details and colors.

This is because of the refinements that the preset applies to color saturation and sharpening. To make the colors pop more, the preset particularly amplifies the saturation of orange and blue. Then, in contrast, it lowers that of red, purple, and magenta. These are complemented by a sharpening boost as well.

In the After photo above, look closely at the woman’s skin tones, the green leaves, and the overall enhanced depth. A darker tone outlines her facial features now; there is greater contrast on her skin tone and you can notice crisper shadows on the folds of her coat.
