A crisp and clear outdoor portrait of a woman in a white dress

A Hazy Portrait

A Hazy Portrait adds stunning clarity while enhancing the natural look of your portraits. It diminishes the haze in your images to give your photos a crisp and bold look that is rich in detail.

Collection: Portrait Presets, Skin Tone Presets
Best for: Correcting Hazy Photos/Lacking Detail
Style: Clean, Natural, Clear, Crisp, Moderate Vibrance

Because of its neutral yet captivating effect, A Hazy Portrait is a handy preset to keep. It will look great not only on portraits, but also in any type of photography that feature a lot of depth and detail. You can use it in any scenario, from casual Instagram posts to professional photography. You can get more ideas in the examples below.

Brightens the Subject’s Features

Reveals Features. The Before photo looks like a casual outdoor shot that has some haze to it. This was likely caused by the less-ideal camera settings, and there are plenty of possible causes behind it. This is mostly inevitable when you are shooting outdoors because of the weather’s uneven lighting.

Look how this A Hazy Portrait preset has transformed the After photo. First, it is now brighter and evenly lit. To achieve this, the preset boosts the picture’s exposure and regulates the highlights. Shadows are increased, too, to add some definition.

See how the woman stands out so much more now. Because of it, you can see and appreciate more of her features. Also notice the intricate details of her watch and hair.

Enhances the Mood with Bold Textures

Stark Details. Given the already significant increase in exposure, the preset now somewhat softens the whites. This adjustment sees to it that you will still be able to see the textures of white elements — it would otherwise be a blindingly white, washed out, mess. To make more details pop, this filter also increases the image’s overall clarity.

You can observe this effect in the After photo above. A Hazy Portrait preset keeps the woman’s white dress highly defined. You can even see the folds of the fabric.

Draws Your Attention to the Subject

Focused Hues. You can tell by now that the preset meticulously adjusts the intensity of both light and color. First are the usual tweaks: intensifies dehaze, amplifies vibrance, and adds more light and color. Then come the fine-tuning: warm and cool hues are muted in both saturation and luminance.

Look at the resulting After photo: because of the desaturation of warm, mid, and cool tones, the man is now set apart from the background.

Enhances Textures and Dark Tones

Sharper Tones. To further bring out the subtle textures and tones, A Hazy Portrait preset also increases the luminance of purple hues. This is a soft adjustment, but it helps enhance the darker tones in an image.

In the above After photo, you can easily notice the sharper textures and tones on the woman’s dress. Even her skirt, despite the thin fabric, shows intricate layers and folds.

Great on Photos with Accent Lighting

Dramatic Lighting. This special preset works well even in indoor lighting. Accent lights would work well, too, whether natural or artificial.

A Hazy Portrait preset boosts sharpening and adds some grain to the image, which is also how a camera would compensate for low light. It does it enough, only to enrich the textures of the photograph.
